Take Some Time to Relax

Relax with Yogi Bear this weekend! Take a break from the busy school semester and the back and forth with kids and other responsibilities. You deserve a break! Come out, rest and relax with the bears and the rest of the gang. There will be a movie night and other relaxing activities for you and your family and friends. We will also be having Wine tasting on Saturday Night for all the adults wanting a little sip to help them relax!

Speaking of sips…Fredericksburg has several wineries and breweries that are worth making some time for!

Here’s a few of our favorites!

Fredericksburg Brewing Company

In the heart of downtown sits this hole-in-the-wall-looking brewery. Outward appearance is just your regular old, small-town bar, however, it is quite the contrary. They’ve got great bar food and the beers are flavorful and full, and priced pretty reasonably. You can also get a growler to take with you!

Pedernales Brewing

This one is a local favorite. You might recognize the name from the local winery, which is also on our list. It’s possible that you’ve been lucky enough to have their Lobo Negro, which is fantastic! It’s full of flavor, with a little caramel finish as if it were a dark beer, but light enough that you aren’t full from drinking one. With coffee and chocolate aromas, and an incredibly smooth texture, this beer will quickly become your favorite.

Since we’re talking about Pedernales….

Pedernales Cellars

Pedernales Cellars has identified the grape varietals that thrive in Texas and has made a killing off of them! But we get something out of it too: amazing wine. They have won awards, such as Top Texas Wine by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Wine Competition, a Grand Gold at the Lyon International Wine Competition, and a Gold at the San Francisco International Wine Competition. Grab a bottle (or just stop by for a taste) and see what all the fuss is about. You’ll be glad you did.

Grape Creek Vineyards

The tasting room is a beautiful, classy establishment with wonderful wines for you to sip on. They consider themselves Tuscany in Texas, and prove it with the bold flavors presented in their wines. We suggest the 2013 Mosaic. Part of Wine Road 290, you can stop along several other wineries on your way here. It doesn’t hurt to broaden your pallet!

We hope you get the opportunity to try some of our favorite spots, and we hope you love them as much as we do. What’s your favorite winery/brewery in the area? Tell us below!
