PBR is coming to town!

Every year in Fredericksburg, 40 of the best professional bull riders take on some of the best and meanest bulls around. Held at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds, this marks the 7th year the PBR Touring Pro Division has stopped in Fredericksburg and the shows get bigger and better each time.

For those unfamiliar with bull riding, PBR consists of the best of the best riders, each ultimately trying to work their way up to the Built Ford Tough Series, the “major leagues” of bull riding. The Touring Pro Division is considered to be the minors, but still bringing in some exciting and talented people.

Riders take on the bull and must stay on for a full 8 seconds. They are then judged both on their riding technique as well as the bull’s performance with the top 15 riders continuing on to the next round. From there, they compete in a “short go” round where the rider with the best overall score from the entire day takes the #1 spot.

In order to make it to the Built Ford Tough Series, the riders must be ranked in the top 35. The Tour Pro Divisions is a way for riders to work their way up to the top to compete in the world PBR World Finals.

This year’s show takes place on September 10th. Gates open at 5:30 and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. We recommend getting there early so you can find a seat as close to action as possible, so long as you don’t mind getting a little dirt kicked up into your drink.
